Two Lucky Breaks for FPOP in 2017

Early in 2017, the FPOP is seeing a pair of lucky breaks if it will play its cards right.

The first opportunity presents itself when President Rodrigo Duterte signed Executive Order Number 12 last January 9, 2017 to intensify access to modern family planning amid the temporary restraining order (TRO) of the Supreme Court on FP commodities.

FPOP Humanitarian Response Team

When FPOP concluded its humanitarian response last June 2014, it had undertaken 88 RH medical missions covering 6 devastated provinces while extending health services to 3,894 pregnant women and 4,278 lactating women. With support from partner agencies like the Action Medior of Germany, the Japanese Organization for International Cooperation for Family Planning (JOICFP), and the SPRINT program of IPPF.

FPOP has stood the test of time as the longest running and biggest family planning association in the Philippines. While surmounting all odds in the midst of a strong anti-choice lobby group in the country, FPOP has also wrestled internally to strengthen its mooring to be more effective in championing sexual and reproductive health and rights in the country.
